Job Summary
Coordinates and performs aspects of patient care before, during,
and after Cardiac Cath/EP Lab related procedures. Circulates,
scrubs using aseptic or sterile technique, monitors and documents
hemodynamics and patient events during procedure. Assist in
recovering patients as assigned to provide quality patient care for
patients undergoing procedures in the Cardiac Cath/EP Lab.
Utilization and management of digital x-ray equipment and archiving
system.

Required Certifications/Licensure: RCIS candidates must obtain
licenses from SC Department of Labor, Licensing, and Regulation
(LLR), as well as SC Radiation Quality Standards Association
(SCRQSA) within six months of hire date;
BLS required at hire;
ACLS mandatory or completed within 90 day probationary period;
Registered Cardiovascular Invasive Specialist (RCIS) or a
Registered Radiologic Technologist (RTR). *If candidate is not
currently registered, successful completion of the Cardiovascular
Credentialing International (CCI) Registry exam or American
Registry of Radiologic Technologists exam is required within 12
months of hire date.
Required Training: None.
Essential Functions
Demonstrates competence to provide developmentally appropriate
care/treatment for the following patient populations:
Adult (18 through 65 years)
Geriatric (over 65 years)
Ability to move, trouble shoot, and use complex digital imaging
equipment and supplies to provide information and quality care
throughout diagnostic and interventional procedure, in a timely
manner.
Provides primary care for patients during pre-procedure,
intra-procedure, and post-procedure observation phases. Ability to
learn, interpret, and perform highly complex technical procedures
which require visual acuity, manual dexterity, and exposure to
biohazardous materials which includes blood borne pathogens,
minimal radiation, and MSDS listed hazardous chemicals.
Ability to see, hear, and respond to physical emergencies in an
expedient manner.
Ability to apply the four senses (i.e. Seeing, smelling, hearing,
and touching) and speak the English Language.
Ability to learn and interpret hospital policies and provide
administrative support to patient, visitors, and staff as needed or
requested.
Able to make physical assessments of the department and equipment
for proper functioning, cleanliness, and reporting of malfunctions
to Cath Lab Manager.
Able to assist in necessary unit/departmental patient care, QA, and
inventory control.
Duties & Responsibilities
Ability to observe change in patient condition/status and respond
in accordance with ACLS protocol as appropriate.
Ability to complete documentation of procedure including: patient
care, conscious sedation and medication administration, inventory
utilization, procedural complications, and ongoing assessment of
level of consciousness.
Ability to lift assist in the moving of patients or equipment.
Ability to identify, locate, assemble, clean, and transport
instruments, and supplies as appropriate.
Ability to escort and/or direct patients, visitors, and physicians
around the medical center.
Ability to provide basic and critical thinking during interventions
as warranted by patients' conditions and needs.
Ensure Hazardous Waste or Hazardous Waste Pharmaceuticals are
discarded, stored, and managed with other compatible waste streams
in containers that are properly labeled and closed prior to being
shipped offsite for proper disposal. Initial RCRA training is
received within 6 months of the hire date and continuing with
annual RCRA training.
