The Market Development Lead (MDL) is responsible for the growth and development of the market through collaboration and engagement with Independent Distributor Partners (IDPs) and retail outlets. The MDL establishes and maintains collaborative relationships with IDPs, select retail store management, and key retailer decision-makers.



Key Responsibilities:

IDP Engagement:

Analyze and share market conditions with IDPs, identifying growth opportunities.
Conduct optional business meetings to support IDP business growth.
Synthesize and interpret data to distill retailer-specific requirements, base business performance, and incremental opportunities.
Educate IDPs on the growth potential of income and equity associated with their routes.
Collaborate with IDPs on dispute resolution to minimize retailer conflicts.
Act as a liaison between cross-functional partners (Customer Teams, Warehouse Operations, IDPs) to ensure service levels are met.
Conduct purposeful route consults upon IDP request.
Periodically conduct physical inventories.

Retail Development:

Support additional market call coverage to drive executional clarity on retailer-specific promotional events.
Forecast and analyze market conditions, developing gap plans to unlock growth in partnership with IDPs.
Visit key accounts and stores to identify strengths and opportunities, building relationships with key local retailer decision-makers.
Follow up on service-related issues generated by retailers within 24 hours to ensure positive resolution.
Build rapport and trust with key store management personnel through visits and communication.


Job Complexity / Scope:

Communicate effectively and sophisticatedly with a diverse group of internal and external cross-functional partners.
Leverage technology to make informed business decisions.
Demonstrate excellent presentation skills (oral and written).
Show proficiency in key Microsoft platforms (including Excel) and general aptitude for technology (e.g., Microsoft Suite, sales-related software).
Partner with Business Development Manager, Zone Sales Manager, Market Sales Lead, retailers, warehouse teams, and IDPs to identify business constraints, opportunities, and needs.



Qualifications:

3 years of related sales or Consumer Packaged Goods experience.
Strong written and verbal communication skills.
Ability to influence and persuade.
Strong problem-solving skills.
Strong technical and analytical skills.
Advanced Microsoft skills, including Excel and PowerPoint.
Demonstrated leadership skills.
B.A. preferred.



Working Conditions:

Travel as needed, both local and overnight.
Must be able to relocate as required.
Must be able to travel within the district, to company meetings, company training, and other regions as business needs demand.



Physical Demands:

Frequently required to stand, walk, and sit.
Occasionally required to climb, balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl.
Must frequently lift and/or move up to 35 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.
Required to drive to stores, warehouses, and hubs within the market consistently.



Pay Transparency: The typical base pay for this role across the U.S. is: $35/hr to $37/hr. Final offer amounts, within the base pay set forth above, are determined by factors including your relevant skills, education and experience and the benefits package you select. Full-time employees are eligible to select from different benefits packages. Packages may include medical, dental, and vision benefits, 10 paid days off, 401(k) plan participation, commuter benefits and life and disability insurance.
